British Red Cross Society (Shetland District)
The Red Cross provide important voluntary services throughout Shetland including:
  • Car Service - conveying disabled/older people to medical appointments in Lerwick, at request of NHS Shetland.
  • Escort Service - accompanying disabled/older outpatients to Aberdeen Hospitals, at request of NHS Shetland.
  • First Aid - cover at public events and 24/7 response to emergencies called by SIC or NHS Shetland.
  • Medical Loan - transit & self-propelled wheelchairs for short term use.
  • Therapeutic Care - for residents in hospitals & care centres throughout Shetland.
